Linode provides a highly customizable Virtual Machine Management Platform using Linux, that lets you configure your own server complete with root access, without the burden of a dedicated server's upkeep, maintenance, and co-location fees.

You can find more official information on Linode on the following pages, then come back here once you're up and running:

At any time, you can refer to the FAQ for further information.

[edit] Administration of your Linode

Linode provides the greatest flexibility with management of your Linode. You can use LISH to login to your console just as you would if you had a keyboard and monitor hooked up to it. The Linode Platform Manager allows you to set up multiple configurations, manage disk sizes, configure reverse DNS, upgrade your Linode instantly, and monitor your Linode.
